Africa-Press – Angola. The prices of basic food products in the city of Lubango, in the province of Huíla, have fallen slightly in the last two months, while others have remained stable. In the city’s warehouses and large commercial areas, a 25-kilogram bag of rice currently costs between 22,500 and 23,500 kwanzas, compared to the previous 25,000 kwanzas.
A 25-kilogram bag of sugar, which previously sold for 26,000 kwanzas, has dropped to 24,000 kwanzas, while a box of spaghetti pasta, which previously sold for 6,800 kwanzas, now costs 6,500 kwanzas, while a 12-liter box of Fula oil has gone from 28,600 to 26,400 kwanzas.
In retail sales, a kilogram of rice now costs 1,100 kwanzas, compared to 1,200 kwanzas. Sugar is also being sold for 1,100 kwanzas, compared to 1,250 kwanzas three months ago. A litre of oil costs 2,400 kwanzas, compared to 2,600 kwanzas before.
The fall in prices is also being seen in farm produce. Clean cornmeal now costs 350 kwanzas, whereas three months ago it cost 600 kwanzas. Catarina beans now cost 1,250 kwanzas, whereas some time ago they cost 1,600 kwanzas.
Finally, a box of 30 eggs, after falling to 3,600 kwanzas in March, has now risen to 5,000 kwanzas.
