Africa-Press – Angola. At the end of his contract, Dabanda, the best scorer in the history of Bravos do Maquis, with 32 goals, is leaving the association, after serving seven seasons in the team that formed him.

Felisberto Dala “Dabanda”, 29 years old, was promoted to senior, in 2017, by coach Zeca Amaral, as part of the rejuvenation process of Moxico’s only formation in Girabola.

At the service of FC Bravos do Maquis, Dabanda, who made his debut against Progresso da Lunda Sul, scored 32 goals in 132 games, having provided 44 assists in domestic competitions in the African Confederation Cup (CAF Cup).

The “17” jersey is an excellent sprinter and scorer, and, acting as a right winger, reached the historic mark of 27 goals in Girabola, four (04) in the Angola Cup and one (01) in competitions under the auspices of the African Confederation de Futebol (CAF), in the draw (1-1) against Étoile of the Republic of Congo.

A resident of the Aço neighbourhood, on the outskirts of Luena, Dabanda set a new club record, previously held by Chico (26 goals), followed by Chole (23).

Only the forwards Chico and Chole, the latter “active” in the formation layers, managed to “scratch the heels” of the scored goals, with 26 and 23, respectively.

Wearing the Blue and White shirt, from FC Bravos dos Maquis, Dabanda is the athlete with the highest number of games played in the history of the club, participating in 132 occasions.

Questioned about his possible destination, Dabanda denied providing details, however, said he had received requests from several clubs.

This information was also confirmed by the association’s vice-president, José Barraca Dembo, who did not say the reasons that made it impossible to renew the player for the next season.

“Dating” with Petro, probable cause

The alleged contacts and interest that Petro de Luanda will have shown in the player, until then “captain” of the maquisards, throughout the current season, will have been the “bucket of cold water”, motivating his removal from the group, not having participated in no match of the second round of the 2023/22 Girabola National Football Championship.

At the time, the athlete said that “I was contacted by directors of Petro de Luanda and other big players in Angolan football, but I did not sign any contract, as they say in the mouth”, reacting to information, at the time, of that would be on the way to the national champion.

Of the 32 goals scored at the service of Bravos do Maquis, currently ranked sixth in Girabola 2022/23 (39 points), eight goals were scored in the 2020/21 season, in 29 games, this being his best season ever in the maquisardes.
