Africa-Press – Angola. The Youth Brigade of Literature of Angola (BJLA) in Cuando Cubango, promoted, on Sunday, in the city of Menongue, a poetry recital in the female voice that served to honor the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto.

The recital was held within the framework of the centenary celebrations that are celebrated on September 17, and took place in the amphitheater of the Instituto Superior Politécnico Privado de Menongue (ISPPM), with the participation of 14 poets who, in addition to reciting the poems of Agostinho Neto , brightened with several literary works of their own.

The delegate of the Youth Brigade of Literature of Angola (BJLA) of Cuando Cubango, José António Kulanda, in statements, said that the event aimed to encourage women’s literature with the inspiration of the works of the greatest poet Agostinho Neto.

José António Kulanda “Poet Kulanda Kutima” said that activities of this kind are continuous, to awaken a taste for reading among young people, to get to know the legacy of Agostinho Neto, taking into account that his works are current.

“The literary works of Agostinho Neto to date have served as an inspiration for many writers, poets and poetesses, in this path it is necessary that his legacy be well passed on to future generations”, he said.

He said that in addition to the poetry recital by Agostinho Neto, the BJLA will promote conferences on the life and work of Manguxi, as well as the launch of the poetry collection called “Geração que ler”, in all municipalities in the province of Cuando Cubango, so that all citizens have a taste for literature.

He stressed that talking about the life and work of António Agostinho Neto is very complex, taking into account the historical dimension and the quality of his works, which carry a futuristic vision on various political, social, cultural, economic issues, among others.
