Africa-Press – Angola. More than 36 million kwanzas were collected in the first half of the year in the informal market of Chissondo, by the Municipal Administration of Cuito, in the province of Bié.
The director of the Economic Office of the Municipal Administration of Cuito, Isaías Lucondo, told that the amount was transferred to the Single Treasury Account, via the Municipality’s Portal.
According to him, the informal market in Chissondo is one of the main commercial segments in the province, given the intense commercial activity, which leads the municipality of Cuito to collect around thirty million kwanzas every quarter.
“These amounts are regularly transferred to the State coffers, through the Municipality’s Portal, a fact that allows the Municipality to be reimbursed later, by the Ministry of Finance, with the percentage to which it is entitled by law”, he said.
Isaías Lucondo stressed that the percentage collected by the Municipality allows the maintenance of the markets and the improvement of the conditions of the sellers of the informal commercial premises.
The Municipal Administration of Cuito, through the Informal Economy Conversion Program (PREI) collected, in the second half of 2021, about 63 million kwanzas, with the collection of taxes and fees in the Chissondo market.
Private Management
The three informal markets in the municipality of Cuito, namely those of Chissondo, Boavista and Zambia (Cunje) may be transferred to private management.
For this purpose, the Municipal Administration of Cuito is preparing, within the scope of the law, a limited public tender to choose among the various commercial agents, the best proposal it can present for the management of commercial spaces.
On the other hand, the Municipal Administration of Cuito is carrying out the registration process that will allow traders to obtain business licenses, commercial and tax identity certificates, in order to facilitate the payment of taxes.
