Africa-Press – Angola. The International Master (MI), Amorim Agnelo, suffered, this Friday, two defeats, in the double round (4th and 5th) of the “Jonce Cup” of chess, played at Shopping Avenida, in Luanda, and lost leadership to third place, with three (3) points.
Amorim, also the current absolute national champion, lost on the fourth round, in the morning, against the FIDE Master (MF), Domingos Júnior, from Escola Macovi, who rose to the lead in the competition, with five (5) points.
On the 5th round, in the afternoon, the player lost again to his teammate, the Master Candidate (CM), João Simões, who now took second place, with four points.
The leader of the competition, Domingos Junior, in the 5th round, to confirm leadership, defeated the Specialist (E), from ASA, Alexandre Próspero, who is in fourth place, with three (3) points.
In women’s, MF, Ednasia Junior (Escola Macovi) reinforced the lead, with 4.5 points, thanks to the victory against MI, Luzia Pires, from 1o de Agosto, for the 4th round, this morning, and against Claudia Van-Dúnem (Escola Macovi), in the 5th round.
In second place is MF, Luzia Pires (1o de Agosto), with four (4) points, after defeating MI, Esperança Caxita (1o de Agosto), who was relegated to 6th position, with 2.5 points, in 5th journey.
Before, for the 4th round, Luzia Pires (1st of August) lost to the leader, MF, Ednasia Júnior.
The race, which has the participation of 18 male and 12 female athletes, in a Swiss system of seven rounds, will feature the last two (6th and 7th) on Saturday.
MI, David Silva, absent, and MI Esperança Caxita are the title holders, won in 2019.
