Africa-Press – Angola. The winning group of the 2023 Luanda Carnival, União Recreativo do Kilamba, will receive a prize worth 15 million kwanzas, the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, announced Thursday in Luanda.
Unlike the prize of five million Kwanzas, announced earlier, according to the minister, the Executive took the initiative to make an increase to give greater relevance to Carnival and culture as a whole.
De acordo com o governante, que falava durante um encontro com o grupo vencedor do Carnaval de Luanda, a atribuição dos 15 milhões de kwanzas é um acréscimo circunstancial e não normativo.
“Este incremento não tem caracter normativo, é apenas uma iniciativa do Executivo que considerou que a valorização dos grupos carnavalescos pudesse ser crescente”, disse.
Para o ministro Filipe Zau, o número de participantes, vistos durante o desfile do carnaval, era muito grande, por isso deve ser compatível ao valor atribuído, de maneiras a ser melhor rentabilizado por todos.
Por seu turno, o comandante do grupo União Recreativo do Kilamba, Poli Rocha, agradeceu ao Executivo por este acréscimo e por ter sentido na realidade , as dificuldades que os grupos enfrentam.

The União Recreativo do Kilamba group, from the Rangel district, was the big winner of class A at the Luanda Carnival, 2023 edition.
In second place was União Jovens da Cacimba with 728 points, União Kiela in third, with 720 points, União Njinga Mbandi in fourth, with 719 points, while União Povo da Quissama occupied fifth place, with 698 points.
