The interim delegate for the Interior in Lunda Norte, Francisco António , recommended this Wednesday the promotion and increase of literacy on combating practices of aid to illegal immigration in the communities, for the reinforcement of the culture of denunciation by the citizens.
The official left this recommendation when speaking at the 47th anniversary of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), stressing that the defense and security bodies must strengthen partnership with the traditional authorities, especially in border areas, so that the fight against illegal immigration is effective. and dynamic.
He added that the vast border between the province of Lunda Norte and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), makes this region prone to the penetration of illegal immigrants who seek to reach the diamond exploration areas, hence the reinforcement of the mechanisms of monitoring and combating the phenomenon.
He highlighted the need for continuous commitment to the technical and professional training of agents in matters of combating illegal immigration, investigation of crimes of aid to immigration, among others.
On the other hand, he stressed that the process of modernization that the body proposes, presupposes the adoption of methods that are part of the process of profound changes, which may cover various levels of organization.
According to the director of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Lunda Norte, the SME’s performance, in addition to embracing the modernization process, requires greater discipline, rigor and readiness, respecting people’s fundamental rights, safeguarded by the Constitution of the Republic of Angola.
“Our executive has been adopting mechanisms to adjust the reality of today’s world with a new migration policy that we believe to be a tool that aims to provide adequate management of migratory flows and ensure a balanced approach to the issue of legal migration and combating illegal immigration” , he stressed.
He appealed to the agents to invest in academic improvement and to act with humanism in the exercise of their functions.
The day alluding to the event took place under the motto “SME 47 years – committed to modernization to better serve” and involved recreational and social activities.
