Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Filipe Zau, carried out, this Monday, in Huambo, the reopening of Ombala yo Mbalundu, in the municipality of Bailundo, currently classified as cultural heritage.
The now refurbished mbala contains the king’s palace and 35 residences for the sobas, as well as a school with 12 classrooms, three laboratories, and a medical center with 20 beds.
In the place, which will serve as the official residence of the king of Bailundo and members of the court, three jangos of traditional judgment were installed. The space also has sarcophagi, where the bones of the ancient kings of Bailundo lie and are preserved. The requalification also made it possible to rehabilitate the potable water system of the entire ombala.
