The Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Country, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, defended, on Friday, in Luanda, the search for sustainable solutions to improve the social conditions of former combatants and veterans of the country and families .
When speaking at the opening of the 1st Council of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, under the motto “Reflecting and identifying solutions to dignify the former combatants and veterans of the country, is a duty of honor”, João Ernesto dos Santos considered economic reintegration actions necessary through entrepreneurship.
“The former combatants and veterans of the country find themselves in a difficult situation, despite specialized protection measures and solidarity from all sectors of national life”, he said, adding that, in addition to the promotion of social assistance actions aimed at the most vulnerable , physically and economically fragile, we must continue to reflect and invest in economic reintegration actions.
The government official highlighted the creation of cooperatives as a strategy to provide income generation and economic autonomy to former combatants and veterans of the country, as well as contributing to the fight against hunger and poverty and the reduction of social asymmetries.
At the meeting of senior staff in the sector, João Ernesto dos Santos promised to continue working to create the necessary material conditions aimed at the social dignification of those assisted, stressing that he expects from staff in the sector at all levels a differentiated ethical professional commitment, capable of interpreting and correctly apply the guidelines defined in the Council.
