Minister of State highlights historical ties between Angola and Guinea-Bissau

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State and head of the Military House, Francisco Furtado, highlighted, on Sunday, the historical ties between Angola and Guinea-Bissau, on a day when that country celebrates 50 years of national independence.

“To talk about the 50 years of Guinea-Bissau’s independence is also to talk about the trajectory of the liberation struggles of Angola, Guinea and Cape Verde. It is also to recognize the brotherhood that exists between our peoples”, highlighted the Minister of State.

For his part, the ambassador of Guinea-Bissau in Angola, Apolinário Mendes de Carvalho, highlighted that the act marks the recognition of the “valiant fighters” for the freedom of the “homeland” and pays a unique tribute to Amílcar Cabral, who led the fight of liberation of Guinea-Bissau.
