Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, was received, this Friday, in an audience, by the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló.
The audience was used by Francisco Furtado to convey to the President of Guinea-Bissau the congratulatory message from his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and another anniversary of the Armed Forces of Guinea-Bissau, marked in November 16th.
Francisco Furtado took advantage of the opportunity to discuss, with the Guinean head of state, issues linked to the revitalization of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the defense, security and public order sector, within the scope of short and long-term training in Angolan higher education establishments, technical, military art and strategy, medicine, aircraft maintenance engineering and pilot training, among other areas.
The two interlocutors reiterated their interest in deepening the bonds of friendship between the two peoples, which date back to the period of the struggle against Portuguese colonialism for their independence, and the revitalization of cooperative relations between the two countries that share the same language, and with a shared vision of development and democracy.
Angola and Guinea-Bissau have maintained political-diplomatic relations since 1976.
