The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teté António, reaffirmed, this Thursday, in Luanda, the Angolan State’s commitment to economic diplomacy, the search for solutions to conflicts in Africa, multilateralism, assistance and consular protection for Angolan communities in the diaspora .
The government official, who was speaking at the International Forum for Exchange and Consultation on the production and treatment of international affairs on the theme “With the History of International Relations, We Project the Future of Humanity with Peace Diplomacy”, explained that, in the field of economic diplomacy , the State is focused on attracting foreign investment, stimulating national exports, mobilizing tourists, gradually internationalizing national companies, promoting fairs and business forums.
He explained that maximizing exports from the national business class is another challenge, as well as the continuous training of staff in various areas.
As a result, “we have held Angolan coffee fairs in several international markets and with the incorporation of other national products, such as honey and cocoa”, he said.
He highlighted the completion of the concession contract for the Lobito Corridor to a multinational, the country’s economic integration into SADC, partnerships with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, adding that the intention is to extend the partnership with other states.
He spoke about the opening of new embassies in Norway, Australia, Indonesia and East Timor, with the process of accreditation of ambassadors underway.
In turn, the president of the Association of Angolan Specialists in International Relations, Adelino Sebastião, defended the need to encourage professionals to form a national and local nucleus of International Relations students in the various Higher Education institutions across the Angolan territory, aiming to unite them from a structural and organizational point of view.
Adelino Sebastião said that the aim is to create synergies of expansion, extension, insertion of quality and quantity for the continued growth and development of the International Relations class as seedbeds of the country and in strengthening the Institutions that administer the higher education course.
With the holding of this 1st National Meeting of International Relations Students, they will be able to bring new horizons and “fresh air” to Angolans who are perplexed and undecided in this area of knowledge.
He said that the objective of the forum was to share experiences and find a space for dialogue between international relations specialists and professionals from international exchange and cooperation offices.
For this reason, he defended the pooling of efforts aimed at reflecting on the challenges and perspectives of students on International Relations throughout the national territory.
For this reason, he explained that the Association of Angolan Specialists in International Relations, the nucleus of students of the aforementioned course in the country and the most diverse Higher Education Institutions are gathered to discuss and reflect on the challenges and perspectives of the class.
In relation to higher education institutions, attention was drawn to looking at the practicality of science to serve the individual, the community as well as society in general, to have employment and sustainability in families.
According to Adelino Sebastião, specialists in International Relations emerge to study international phenomena that in a certain way affect states.
“We are actually here to monitor the phenomena and find lines of consensus to alert and awaken states on how they should position themselves in conflicts that are emerging everywhere.” He said
Dozens of specialists in International Relations were present, including graduates, members of the Defense and Security Forces, students, journalists and interested parties, marking the International Forum for exchange and consultation on the production and treatment of international affairs.
The objective of the forum was to share experiences and find a space for dialogue between international relations specialists and professionals from exchange and international cooperation offices.
