Minister removes pressure from national team athletes

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, withdraws any pressure on the National Team of football for amputees on the revalidation of the title in the World Cup, to be held from September 30 to October 9, in Istanbul, Turkey.

The holder of the Sports portfolio considers that it will be up to the players to demand the most from themselves, in order to compete on equal terms and dignify, in the best way, the colors of the National Flag, as happened in the previous edition.

“When they won the first world title, we didn’t demand anything, and today we do the same. Each one must demand the maximum from themselves and, with your commitment, we will have the results we want, in the face of the difficulties they will encounter in the competition”, said Sacramento. Grandchild.

For his part, the group’s “captain”, Hilário Kufula, once again underlined that the objective is to revalidate the title, despite recognizing that it will be an arduous mission, as all opponents enter the competition with the same pretension.

“The internship that we are going to hold will help us adapt to the climate. At this time the temperatures are low, compared to Luanda. We are committed and I believe that we can do a good test and surprise, as happened in the last championship”.

At the World Cup, Angola is in Group F, alongside Uruguay, Italy and Iraq. In the opening round, the National Team begins the defense of the title, on October 1st, against a similar team in Uruguay.

Athletics Combined

At first, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto handed over the Flag to the National Athletics Paralympic Team, which participates in the 1st International Meeting, qualifying for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, to be held from the 11th to the 18th of this month, in the city of Marrakech, Morocco.

“The ceremony that we held today marks the beginning of an official sporting mission that will represent all Angolans at the Meeting, so that they achieve the necessary marks that will lead us to participate in the Paris Paralympic Games”.

The official hopes that the national symbol, to be hoisted on the stages of the different competitions, will come to represent the strength and determination of all Angolans.

“Each competition is a competition, each game is a game and, if you manage to outdo yourself every day, I believe you will do your best. Always remember: we are a united and warrior people, who come together to applaud our teams. Even from a distance, we send positive energy to our athletes.”

Present at the event, the vice-president of the Angolan Paralympic Committee, Lobo do Nascimento, said that any of the teams is going to compete and that all athletes are imbued with the spirit of mission in the name of the Motherland.

Speaking to the press, the coach of the National Team, José Manuel, in addition to guaranteeing the minimum for the competition, which will take place in the French capital, the second objective is to improve Angola’s classification in the international ranking.

“In our last participation, in the 2020 Japan Paralympic Games, we placed 13th. Without competing in events of this standard, we were unable to improve our position in the world rankings. Therefore, this will be an opportunity for us to do so.

In the Kingdom of Morocco, the goal is to be among the top 12 teams, in addition to reaching the minimum required to be present in Paris. In total, the entourage is composed of 11 elements, of which four female athletes and two male athletes.
