Minister Téte António discusses cooperation with the Vice President of Brazil

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, was received, this Thursday, in the Brazilian city of Brasília, by the Vice-President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, with whom he discussed aspects related to bilateral cooperation.

The Angolan official presented greetings from the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and detailed information related to the VII Angola-Brazil Joint Commission, which ended last Wednesday, in Brasília, within the framework of the economic, scientific and technical cooperation agreement between the two countries.

According to a press note, minister Téte António spoke of the agreements signed during the joint commission and the need to change the paradigm that, in relations between the two countries, prevailed until the recent past.

The Angolan official encouraged the financing of structuring public projects, which would represent the beginning of a new era of economic and financial cooperation between Angola and Brazil.

Téte António appealed to the Vice-President of Brazil to support the good progress of the negotiation process, for the establishment of a new Brazil-Angola memorandum of understanding (MEBA) in the financial area.

According to the minister, the opening of new lines of credit will provide for the development of areas such as agro-industry, infrastructure and health.

Participating in the audience were the Secretaries of State for the Interior, José Paulino Cunha da Silva, Civil Aviation, Maritime and Ports, Emílio Vumpa de André Londa, the outgoing Angolan ambassador to Brazil, Florêncio Mariano da Conceição e Almeida, and the director for America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Felisberto dos Prazeres Martins.

A doctor by profession and former governor of the state of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin has been Vice President of Brazil since January 1st.
