Africa-Press – Angola. Ministers from four regional organizations namely, the Economic Community of Central African States (EAC), Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICRGL) and the African Development Community Austral (SADC), meet today in Luanda to prepare the work agenda for the Summit of Heads of State to take place tomorrow.
According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Quadripartite Summit will take place under the auspices of the African Union and the participation of the United Nations (UN).
As part of the preparations for the Summit, experts from the four organizations met, last Saturday, in Luanda, to identify the existing initiatives and peace detachments of the different RECs, RM and the UN, with the aim of recognizing areas of coordination and harmonization to be reinforced.
The meeting also served to reach agreement on a concerted, coordinated and comprehensive approach to be adopted by all RECs/RMs, as well as the African Union and the UN in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The expert session, which preceded the Quadripartite Ministerial Meeting, also focused on the development of a Consolidated Joint Master Plan, with a clear division of labor between the regional bodies, the African Union and the UN, and an agreed timetable to allow rapid coordination and harmonization of efforts.
