Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Sports, Teresa Ulundo, appealed this Monday, in Luanda, to the spirit of sacrifice to the National Mixed Martial Arts Team (MMA), which, from the 27th of this month to the 2nd of June, participates in the 7th African Championship (CAN), in Windhoek, Namibia.

The head of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD) stated that the adoption of such a stance by the athletes will allow the revalidation of the title, won in 2023, at Multiuso do Kilamba, in the Angolan capital, Luanda.

Speaking at the ceremony of handing over the National Flag to the delegation, representing the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, before embarking for the event stage, Ulundo said he was convinced that the national combination in the youth, junior and senior categories, for both sexes, they will know how to represent the country with dignity.

In the African event in Luanda, the national team led the general classification with 39 medals, 18 gold, 14 silver and seven bronze.

Regarding this achievement, the State Secretariat stated that everything was done to guarantee Angola’s presence in the African tournament and, consequently, the revalidation of the title, without neglecting the spirit of “fair-play”.

The group, made up of 70 athletes, worked for two months at the Academy (Olympus), in the Gamek neighborhood, and traveled in stages to Namibia. The first part on Tuesday, the second on Wednesday and the last on Friday.

Composition of selections:

Seniors – Francisco Tchapaina, Adilson Serrão and Nivanio Novais (strawweight), Mafuana Mbungo, Graciano Brecio and Pedro Pascoal (flyweight), Afonso Vemba, Melson Prata, Adalberto Ntyamba, Leonardo Pascoal (bantamweight), Matias Monteiro, Clélio Diogo ( featherweight), Isaac Manuel, Cristiano Pedro, Pedro Calembele and Wilson Bombo (lightweight)

The group also includes Tunhenda Daniel, Axel Augusto (middleweight), Stanislau Wezzy, Joaquim Tchiteni (welterweight), Mário Stefan, Anderson Correia, Mikilson Yoka (light heavyweight), Elfran Marques, José Txambunga (heavyweight) , Hélder Manuel, Nicklas Herlander, Maria Kitoco (70.3 kg), Esperança Pereira, Gessimara Chupeta (56.7 kg), Núria Miguel and Geovani Ludmila (65.7 kg), all super heavyweights.

Juniors – Wilson Manuel, Afonso Nascimento, Américo Nguevulo (strawweight), Nkunga Vakanda, Edvalson Ginga, Ismael Domingos (flyweight), José Simão, António Uquete, Paulo Mavinga (bantamweight), Avelino das Neves, Jacinto José and Manaceu Nkonda (feather weight)

Completing the delegation are Ricardo Pireza, Dumilde Tchilala (lightweight), Rafael Viegas, Renato Pireza (welterweight), Gabriel Domingos, Maurício Fernando (middleweight), Evandro Lisboa (heavyweight) and Massano Mbinda (super heavyweight)

Juveniles – Elizabeth Teixeira, Esmeralda Mbleum and Nilza Munhanhab (47.7kg category), Luhinga Santana and Indira Santana (52.1 kg), Daniela Mandijane and Isabel Ntyamba (56.7kg), Teresa Dias and Nadiar Vieira (61.2 kg) and Jeovane Bomguila ( 65.7kg).
