Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) highlighted, this Friday, the figure of former minister Venâncio de Moura for his actions in favor of affirming the country in the concert of nations.
According to the person in charge, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, who was speaking at the opening of the third edition of the celebration of the Patron’s Day of the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, the dimension of Venâncio de Moura is not limited to the activities of MIREX, as its patriotic sense continues to serve as a reference in the different dimensions of the country’s decision-making process.
Esmeralda Mendonça highlighted the figure of Venâncio de Moura as a good negotiator and for his perseverance in dealing with missions on behalf of Angola.
“Naturally, men of state, of the caliber of those who unite us on this day, never die, as their deeds and examples live in the memory, not only of the national cadres who worked with them, but also in the memory of various foreign personalities who worked with them. interacted in the context of the diplomacy of the Republic of Angola”, he said.
Venâncio de Moura was Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1992 and 1999. An unavoidable figure in Angolan diplomacy, he was one of the signatories of the Lusaka Protocol, by the Angolan government, in November 1994.
He dedicated 23 years to diplomacy, one as ambassador to Italy and 22 as deputy and minister of foreign affairs.
The Diplomatic Academy is patronized by the late Minister Venâncio da Silva Moura, whose homage is paid on February 25, the day of his birth.
During the opening ceremony of the celebrations, a monument was inaugurated in honor of the late Minister Venâncio de Moura, patron of the MIREX Diplomatic Academy.
