Africa-Press – Angola. A donation consisting of hygienic material and others was handed over Friday to the inmates of the Menongue Penitentiary Service establishment, in a solidarity gesture by Miss Cuando Cubango, Viviane Munguli.
The donated goods include hygiene material for personal use, soap, bleach and other detergents that will contribute to improving the hygiene of the more than 787 inmates of the prison establishment in the city of Menongue.
On the occasion, more than 100 prisoners also benefited from free consultations in the specialties of cardiology, medical emergencies, medicine and general surgery, as well as medical and medication assistance, at a fair also promoted by Miss Cuando Cubango, in partnership with the Order of Doctors.
Speaking to the press, Viviane Munguli said that the gesture is part of the activities outlined for her mandate, which started last year. and that the gesture symbolizes solidarity with the penal population in conflict with the law.
The deputy director of the Cuando Cubango Penitentiary Service, chief prison superintendent JoseĢ Matumona, praised the gesture, which is enough to minimize the lack of these goods, in an initiative that contributes to improving the quality of life of inmates.
The person in charge thanked the initiative, wishing that this activity would be repeated more often, so that, together, they could work on the rehabilitation of the prisoners, in order to facilitate their reintegration into their family and society.
