Africa-Press – Angola. At least 2,399 doctors were hired by the health sector, during the public tenders held between 2018 and 2019, revealed, Wednesday (26), in Luanda, the minister of the sector.
Sílvia Lutucuta, who was speaking around Doctor’s Day, which is celebrated on the 26th of this month, said that the aforementioned public tenders allowed the sector to absorb a total of 25,465 professionals.
The minister recognized the vital role of doctors in ensuring an increasingly resilient and functional health system to save more lives. “I praise the adaptability shown by our doctors, who are true heroes, in a period of resistance and resilience, which put their humanism, solidarity and competence to the test”, he underlined.
Sílvia Lutucuta also referred to the constraints and challenges that professionals face in an environment of high exposure to risk, where day and night they do their best to treat those who need them, even if they are so often deprived of their families. .

As for the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which places the world in front of one of the biggest challenges for professionals in various sectors, the minister made it known that the transmission of the disease can only be controlled with the active, organized and sustained participation of all society and families.
