Africa-Press – Angola. The communal headquarters of Assango, in the municipality of Amboim, in the province of Cuanza-Sul, now has a health center with a capacity of 30 beds, inaugurated on Monday by Governor Job Capapinha.

With the center, the population no longer travels 21 kilometers to the city of Gabela and Vila da Boa Entrada, in search of medical assistance.

Called “Soba Sakanga”, the center was built under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and cost 253,811,572 kwanzas, including equipment. The works lasted 14 months. 47,280 inhabitants of the Assango commune and surroundings, it has services of General Medicine, Pediatrics, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Counseling Services on Infections.

When delivering the new social equipment, Governor Job Capapinha, accompanied by the municipal administrator, Eliseu Segunda Miranda, recalled that the Executive continues to focus on bringing health services closer to rural areas, with a view to shortening distances to users. “The delivery of this health unit at the headquarters of the commune of Assango represents the commitment of the Executive and the Government of the province of Cuanza-Sul, in particular, to improve medical and medication assistance to the populations”, he underlined, appealing to the population to conserve the facilities. .

The maximum traditional authority of the commune, Soba João Maneco, thanked, on behalf of the community, the commitment of the provincial government in the construction of the health centre, for having responded to the clamor of the region’s population.
