Africa-Press – Angola. Twelve thousand and 75 disadvantaged families from the villages of Nsundi, Cavunga and Denga, in the municipality of Songo, province of Uíge, began Tuesday, to benefit from the Social Protection Strengthening Program (Kwenda).
In Uíge, the program, which started in 2021, has already benefited 32 thousand and 496 families from the municipalities of Songo, Mucaba and Cangolana, having disbursed two billion and 739 million and 300 thousand kwanzas.
The director of the Social Support Fund (FAS) in Uíge, Nanizaiawo Capitão, told this Tuesday that of the 12 thousand and 75 beneficiaries, 11 thousand 519 will benefit from the fourth and fifth installments, worth 66 thousand kwanzas per family , while the other 152 households will receive four payments, worth Kz 132 thousand.
He added that 404 other families will benefit from the first to fifth installments of Kz 165,000, as they had not received them before.
Nanizaiawo Capitão announced that in the coming months families in the municipality of Milunga will begin to benefit from Kwenda, with work currently underway to correct the registered data.
Kwenda is an Angolan Government program that aims to support families in situations of poverty or vulnerability in the country.
Valued at US$420 million, the program is financed with US$320 million from the World Bank and US$100 million from the Angolan State.
