Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred and 71 soldiers assigned to the Northern Military Region (RMN) of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) received, this Tuesday, in Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province, their retirement licensing certificates, based on age limits.
These are senior officers, subordinates, captains, sergeants and enlisted men, whose act was guided by the commander of the Northern Military Region, Lieutenant General Diniz Segunda Lucana.
Marked by a military parade, the ceremony also served to honor these brave FAA fighters who gave everything to defend the country’s territorial integrity and achieve peace.
When speaking at the event, Diniz Segunda Lucana recognized the commitment and courage demonstrated by the personnel who are now ceasing their service in the ranks of the Angolan Armed Forces.
“Even though the noble mission of defending the Angolan homeland ceases, you will continue to be guardians of the preservation of peace, reconciliation and national unity”, he highlighted.
Speaking after the ceremony, some retirees expressed their satisfaction with the duty fulfilled in defending the country.
Feliciano Dala, 67 years old, said that he served in the Angolan army for 45 years and is happy to have defended the integrity of the nation.
“They were hard and long difficult moments, in which we were forced to leave our families to defend our nation”, he narrated, to those who left with their heads held high and with the satisfaction of having fulfilled their duty.
Lieutenant Colonel Teixeira Armando, 65 years old, emphasizes that retirement is just another stage in his life, which he intends to take advantage of for a well-deserved rest, after long years of service to the country.
He said that he joined the then Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FAPLA) at just 16 years old, in Cabinda, his homeland, and the most difficult moment in his career was when he left his family to carry out a mission in other regions of the country.
The Northern Military Region of the Angolan Armed Forces encompasses the provinces of Zaire and Uíge, with headquarters in the latter.
