Africa-Press – Angola. Eighteen thousand and 850 jobs were created in Angola, from January to March 2025, the Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues, reported this Thursday in Luanda.

Speaking during the opening of the body’s first advisory board, the minister said that the areas with the highest employability were real estate and rental activities, with 21%, commerce (12%), construction (07%), accommodation and catering (6%) and extractive industry (02%).

This fact, the minister stressed, means that the Angolan economy is showing signs of greater productivity, calling for continued work so that the jobs generated are stable, contribute to the development of communities and create income to support families.

Regarding 2024, Teresa Dias highlighted that, at a national level, 225,157 jobs were created, but also 6,488 people lost their jobs due to layoffs, closed companies and job abandonment, with around 218,618 jobs remaining active.

During her speech, the minister gave a summary of the objectives achieved by the sector last year, with a focus on the Public Administration domain, in which 34,216 employees and administrative agents were trained in the different training areas, corresponding to a level of execution of 171 percent compared to the planned target of 20,000, according to the National Development Plan 2023-2027.

According to Teresa Rodrigues, last year, the Integrated Citizen Service (SIAC) assisted three million users, corresponding to 85.7 percent compliance with the forecast of three million and 500 thousand users.

In the area of ​​Labor Administration, the person in charge considered the degree of fulfillment of some goals to be satisfactory, including the requalification of the Municipal Centers for Entrepreneurship and Employment Services of Viana (CMESE), the Local Center for Entrepreneurship and Employment Services of Benguela (CLESE) and the Employment Center of Lobito.

In this context, three thousand and 340 citizens were sent to the professional internship program in companies and institutions in various market segments, as well as around 152 thousand and 625 citizens trained by the National Professional Training System, corresponding to an implementation rate of 127 percent.

Regarding the delivery of professional kits, the minister announced that 449 were distributed and 300 microcredits were granted to small business owners.

At the level of the National Qualifications Institute, it was reported that 25 technicians benefited from training in methodologies and instruments for lifelong guidance, recognition, validation and certification of skills.

Likewise, 1,500 technicians were trained in methodologies for accrediting training entities and professional equivalences, as well as the creation of 17 professional qualifications.

Regarding the General Labour Inspectorate, the minister stated that 9,370 inspection actions were carried out, within the technical and social scope, at companies in different sectors of activity, corresponding to a level of execution of around 130.1 percent.

At this point, the minister guaranteed continued work in coordination with all bodies involved in the issue of Decent Work, to vehemently combat companies that insist on non-compliance and non-observance of the General Labor Law, highlighting deplorable situations “embodying so-called modern slavery”.

In the area of ​​Mandatory Social Protection, he said that more than 21 thousand taxpayers were registered in 2024, corresponding to an implementation rate of 210.6 percent, with the target being 100 thousand taxpayers.

More than 256,600 new policyholders were also registered, corresponding to an implementation rate of 58.3 percent.

Under the motto “Strengthening Public Administration and Decent Work for the Country’s Development”, during the event, structural themes that contribute to the strengthening and socioeconomic development of the country are being discussed.

The collection of contributions, aiming at the robustness and improvement of the measures defined to achieve the results reflected in the sector’s programs and in the National Development Plan (PDN 2023-2027), is also on the work agenda.
