More than 20 companies went bankrupt this year in Huíla

Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty-two companies from different branches of the economy in the province of Huíla declared bankruptcy in the period from January to February 16 of the current year, due to lack of financial capital, leaving “hundreds of people unemployed and the sector poorer”.

The information was given to the press by the president of the Agricultural and Industrial Association (APICIL) of Huíla, Paulo Gaspar, on the sidelines of the meeting held with the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José Massano.

Without providing comparative data, Paulo Gaspar highlighted that these are large and small companies, some with more than 400 workers, due to difficulties linked to liquidity and lack of project financing, acquisition of currency for the import of raw materials.

According to the businessman, another situation that afflicts AAPCIL presented to the minister is related to the tax code, the fines and interest that the General Tax Administration (AGT) charges to businesspeople, accelerating the bankruptcy of companies.

As for the public debt, he said it was “very high”, but the minister assured that it was being paid in phases.

He stated that they left the meeting with hope, as “the minister guaranteed that the Government will improve” with the implementation of a mechanism to balance the current situation.

The Huíla Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial Association (AAPCIL) has more than two thousand members, including small, medium and large ones.
