Africa-Press – Angola. At least three hundred and forty-four healthcare professionals are participating, since Monday in Luanda, in angiography training aimed at improving the diagnosis of strokes.
The course organized by the Cardeal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex (CHDCP), includes professionals from various health subsystems, both public and private.
Angiography is an imaging exam that uses X-rays and a contrast agent injected through a catheter to visualize blood vessels, diagnosing problems such as blockages, aneurysms, and clots.
The procedure involves the insertion of a thin tube (catheter) into an artery, followed by the injection of contrast so that the vessels are delineated in the images.
In an interview with the press, the event spokesperson, Wilson Mphandi, said that the course is being taught by 15 Angolan instructors.
According to the source, participants are also trained in materials on mechanical ventilation, echocardiography, ultrasound, basic life support, among other specialties.
To Wilson Mphandi, who is also a physician, the training aims to provide professionals with basic tools to better perform their profession.
The spokesperson informed that the event serves as a preparation session in the scope of the holding of the first CHDCP congress, scheduled for the 4th and 5th of the current month.
The congress is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence and the fourth anniversary of the institution, celebrated on November 30th under the motto “Science, care and sovereignty, 4 years of hospital excellence in 50 years of independence”.
