Africa-Press – Angola. Around 500 identity cards have been abandoned, since January 2023, in the Identification Service of the Dondo Registration Store, municipality of Cambambe (Cuanza Norte), informed Wednesday, the store’s administrator, Acácio Mateus .
The documents are part of the seven thousand,420 identity cards issued in the period in question, compared to the six thousand,907 issued in the previous year.
He highlighted that, in 2022, more than 100 identity cards that had been abandoned since 2021 were returned to the National Directorate of Civil and Criminal Identification, in compliance with legal regulations, to allow the applicant to be purged from the system, until the request for a second copy of the same document.
According to the person responsible, the reasons for the owners not collecting documents are not known, as the institution keeps its doors open to the public on all normal service days and, in some cases, even on weekends.
He noted that a considerable number of uncollected identity cards belong to citizens residing in the communes.
Acácio Mateus said that the institution carried out in general, in 2023, eight thousand and 45 different acts, with emphasis on the issuance of the first copy of three thousand and 886 identity cards, 414 of which were second copies.
In the same period, three thousand and 120 citizens had their tickets renewed and 628 criminal record certificates were also issued, which allowed the collection of six million, 970 thousand and 182 kwanzas.
