Africa-Press – Angola. The Solidarity Support Movement of Angola (Movangola) in Huambo province, defined the reinforcement of blood donation actions in all hospital units as one of the priorities, for 2023.

This region has a health system comprising 261 infrastructures, including three provincial hospitals, 12 municipal hospitals, 55 health centres, 177 health posts and 13 maternal and child centres.

The fact was made known, Sunday, by the secretary of Movangola in the province of Huambo, José Timóteo Chetete, during the commemorative act of the organization’s 10th anniversary, marked on the 24th of this month.

He explained that the intention to reinforce blood donation campaigns is included in the activities scheduled for 2023, with a view to mitigating the lack of this liquid in hospitals.

According to the official, Movangola intends to donate blood once in each quarter, in accordance with the recommendations of the health authorities, but in a comprehensive way, with a view to benefiting all hospitals in the region.

“This is the main goal for this year, with the permanent mobilization of hundreds of young people to embrace this noble cause, which aims to help hospitals save human lives, taking into account the deficit of blood that has been registered in hospital units”, underlined.

José Timóteo Chetete said that the organization currently controls more than 150 volunteer donors.

Among the perspectives, the head of the association pointed out the continued awareness of the population, especially young people, about the need to conserve and preserve public goods, respect for the elderly, in addition to actions aimed at improving basic sanitation and rescuing the cultural, moral and civic values.

He recalled that in 2022 several activities were carried out, with emphasis on the training of 96 young people, in partnership with the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP)

Created on January 24, 2013, Movangola is an Angolan non-governmental, philanthropic organization, whose social object is solidarity support actions for the most vulnerable communities.

The province of Huambo, located in the Central Plateau of Angola, has an area of ​​35,771 square kilometres, comprising 11 municipalities, 37 communes and 3,387 villages.
