Africa-Press – Angola. A forum for regional cooperation and cultural exchange between the provinces of Moxico (Angola) and Noroeste (Zambia) will take place from 30 October to 2 November, in the city of Luena, as part of strengthening relations between the two border regions .
According to the forum program(Monday), it is planned to present the potential of each province, in the economic, social and cultural domains.
During the meeting, work will be carried out by specialization committees, as well as a trip to the municipality of Luau, 334 kilometers from the capital (Luena), where the delegation from the Zambian province will be able to visit the “General Sapilinha Sambalanga” Airport, Municipal Hospital.
A visit to the Luau Agricultural Technical Institute is also planned, as well as the border post with the region, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The aforementioned program also includes visits to the Camaiangala agricultural project, Moxico General Hospital and photovoltaic plant, under construction in the city of Luena.
The Zambian delegation will be led by the minister of the North West province (equivalent to governor), Honorable Robert Lihepu.
Meetings of this kind began last April, when the provincial governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, traveled to the Western province, in the Republic of Zambia, to participate in the 1st session of Regional Cooperation and Cultural Exchange “Moxico-Western Province”.
At that meeting, held in the city of Mongu, capital of the Western province, the socio-economic reality of Moxico, the potential and areas open to private investment were presented, in addition to the economic legislative facilities adopted by the Angolan Government in recent years, which encourage investment private.
The Forum also debated the political situation, security, education, health, trade, economy, tourism, culture, livestock, fishing and agriculture.
Almost a month later, the city of Luena hosted the 2nd session of the aforementioned Regional Cooperation and Cultural Exchange meeting, welcoming a delegation from the Western province of Zambia, headed by its minister (governor), Kapelwa Mbangweta,
In the unprecedented event, resulting from the guidelines of the Presidents of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, and of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, the governments signed several cooperation agreements that will be periodically evaluated through these meetings.
The highlight is, for example, the health sector, with the intention of establishing a communication and referral system between the health systems of Moxico and the Western province.
The province of Moxico shares 747 kilometers of land and river border with the Republic of Zambia.
