MPLA and PAIGC reinforce cooperation

Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, addressed Thursday, in Luanda, issues related to the strengthening of friendly and cooperative relations with the leaders of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau (PAIGC) and of the Comoros Renewal Convention (CRC).

Speaking to the press, at the end of the audience granted to him, the president of the PAIGC, Domingos Simões Pereira, said that it was of interest to constantly learn from the experience of the MPLA, comparing strategies.

He informed that his party is preparing to participate in the June legislative elections, with a coalition.

Domingos Pereira stated that, internally, there are problems with the composition of the National Electoral Commission.

He said he hoped that the MPLA would participate in the international observation of the elections in Guinea-Bissau.

Founded in September 1956 and social-democratic in orientation, the PAIGC currently has 47 of the 102 deputies to the National Assembly.

Also after the meeting with the vice-president of the MPLA, the secretary general of the Convention for the Renewal of the Comoros (CRC), Mohamed Youssoufa, considered essential the strengthening of friendly relations with the party in power in Angola.

He stressed that the MPLA is a great party, a great organization that has a lot of experience.

He admitted the possibility of party cooperation extending to the militant training of CRC cadres.
