MPLA CC recommends investing in the export of energy surplus

Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA Central Committee recommended to the Executive, Friday, the intensification of actions that enable the export of energy surplus to countries in the SADC region.

According to the final communiqué of the VI ordinary meeting of the MPLA management body, the export of surplus must involve the private sector as part of the diversification of the country’s sources of revenue.

Guided by the party president, João Lourenço, the meeting, preceded by another from the Political Bureau, recommended the granting of guarantees of access to financing to support the implementation of structuring projects.

On the other hand, he guided the implementation of a broad movement to mobilize citizens and activists, in particular, to reinforce surveillance and report acts of vandalism and sabotage, in support of the actions of defense and security bodies “in the fight against closed and without respite from damaging public assets”.

He considered that such acts demonstrate bad faith, lack of patriotism, banditry and a crime subject to conviction by the competent bodies.

He advised promoting private sector participation in production, through the diversification of alternative energy sources, such as in commercialization to ensure greater efficiency and effectiveness in revenue collection.

The Central Committee also called for agility in the bidding and financing of transmission line construction projects, with a view to increasing the electrical energy distribution capacity throughout the country, especially in areas with the highest concentration of agricultural and industrial production.

He also requested priorities in investments for the construction and expansion of the water distribution network throughout the country, especially for the implementation of the Bita and Quilonga projects, both in Luanda.

This body also guided the promotion of public awareness about the importance of adequate treatment of wastewater and ensuring the implementation of regulations that guarantee compliance with water quality standards.

He advised the improvement of water consumption charging mechanisms to increase the level of revenue collection and to combat the mining of the liquid.

The Central Committee encouraged the Executive to redouble actions aimed at improving the conditions and quality of life of citizens, as well as relaunching the national productive sector for the diversification of the economy.

The VI ordinary session of the Central Committee approved the reports on the activities carried out last year and on the execution of the party’s general budget in the same period.

The MPLA’s governing body congratulated young people on April 14, Angolan Youth Day, urging them to invest in raising their level of education, to acquire skills compatible with the challenges of the country’s economic, social and scientific development.

He congratulated the national futsal team for qualifying for the final phase of the VII edition of the African championship, which takes place in Morocco, ensuring participation in the next world cup of the sport to be held in Uzbekistan.

He expressed solidarity with the victims of rains, disasters and natural calamities in the country and appealed for due support to the affected families.
