Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary-General of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, stated this Thursday in Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte province, that 2026 is a challenging year for the party, given the various commitments on its agenda.
Speaking to the press, he said that this year the MPLA faces the challenges of holding the 8th and 9th ordinary congresses of the OMA (Organization of Angolan Women) and the party, respectively, as well as the celebrations of its 70th anniversary.
He mentioned that it is within this framework that the MPLA launches its political agenda, focusing on the preparation and mobilization of party members, cadres, and leaders to meet the main objectives of these three events.
He added that it is also the year of the party’s preparation for the 2027 general elections.
“The party will be prepared to overcome this 2027 challenge. The MPLA will form a government again in 2027,” the party leader confidently affirmed.
Paulo Pombolo is in Ndalatando, leading the advance group from the party’s Political Bureau, which is overseeing preparations for the visit of the MPLA Vice-President, Mara Quiosa, to the province.
The MPLA Vice-President will lead the launch of the party’s political agenda for 2026 and the inauguration of the new facilities of the Cuanza-Norte Provincial Committee on Saturday at Largo das Escolas in Ndalatando.
Regarding this activity, Paulo Pombolo assured that approximately 59,000 party members from the grassroots and intermediate structures of the party across the 17 municipalities of Cuanza-Norte province are mobilized.
