MPLA considers a fundamental code of ethics in accountability

Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, considered this Saturday, in Luanda, that it is essential that the code of ethics is based on the moment of accountability by public managers, with a view to ensuring quality, excellence, rectitude , impartiality and objectivity in public management.

When speaking at the seminar on ‘Ethics and integrity in public service’, promoted by the ruling party in Angola, the leader highlighted this event as a sovereign opportunity to continue to dialogue in a critical and self-critical sense about the problem of the human condition in public service.

According to Luísa Damião, this opportunity also serves to raise standards of decency and probity in the management of organizations’ human resources and reflect on ‘compliance’ (good practices), as well as on risk control and management mechanisms and prevent cases of fraud or corruption.

Because of this, the vice-president of the MPLA praised the initiative of holding the aforementioned seminar, considering it to be of capital importance in reinforcing the construction of a society based on ethical and moral principles, social justice, equity and accountability.

He also argued that it is the task of every society to ensure compliance with conventional standards considered ethically correct in the provision of public services, in addition to the public administration, which has the mission of promoting the valorization of quality public services that are accessible to all citizens.

The seminar, which had more than a thousand participants, aimed to promote a space for discussion that leads to reflection on the relevance of ethics and integrity in public service among MPLA activists, supporters and friends.

During the event, topics such as ‘Ethics and integrity in the formation and execution of public contracts’, ‘Acts of non-compliance’ and ‘Main regulatory and control instruments relating to ethics and integrity in Angola’ were discussed.
