Africa-Press – Angola. The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the MPLA considered, this Friday, that the 4th of February is an indelible mark in the history of the resistance of the Angolan people to the Portuguese fascist regime, constituting a symbol of heroism and love for the country.
In a statement on the 4th of February, the date of the beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, sent to Jornal de Angola, the MPLA states that the action was part of the population’s aspirations and the need to move on to forms of struggle to achieve of National Independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975, by the late President, António Agostinho Neto.
“The Political Bureau takes the opportunity to pay deep tribute to the heroes fallen for the cause of National Independence and to those still alive, reaffirming the value and historical importance of the 4th of February, as the fuse of the long process of liberation struggle”, reads in the communiqué.
