MPLA in Bié Reiterates Unity to Overcome Challenges in Catabola

Africa-Press – Angola. The first secretary of the MPLA in Bié, Celeste Adolfo, reiterated this Friday, in Catabola, the need for the population to remain united, in order to be able to wisely overcome all the challenges that still exist, both in this municipality and in the entire province.

Celeste Adolfo made these statements to the press, during a brief contact she had with her party’s activists in Catabola, as part of her two-day political-party work visit to this region. She said that the population needs to have confidence in the government’s programs, which aim to solve the municipality’s problems, such as the completion of the asphalting and electrification work in the municipal headquarters, as well as other ongoing investments, to make the town more attractive.

Furthermore, the MPLA’s first secretary in Bié announced that the mother-child center and the municipal electrical substation will soon be operational, in order to improve the municipality’s energy supply.

“We are aware that there are still several problems to be resolved, but we must also keep the hope alive that the MPLA, as the party in power, will continue to work so that Catabola and other localities will experience even more of the gains of peace,” she said.He therefore pointed out the agricultural sector as one of the most challenging, due to the fact that the local population is mostly peasant. He reported that, starting next September, when the agricultural year begins, more fertilizer, seeds and other means of cultivation are expected to arrive for the population. He said that the increase in agricultural production is expected to reduce hunger within families. The municipality of Catabola is focused on producing butter beans. It also produces corn, rice, cassava, sweet and stale potatoes, as well as various vegetables. In the 2024/2025 agricultural campaign, the agricultural sector assisted more than 17 thousand peasant families with fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, draft cattle and other work tools. The municipality of Catabola has three communes, namely Sande, Cayuera and Sede, which are home to more than ten thousand inhabitants.
