Africa-Press – Angola. The first secretary of the MPLA in the province of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, this Saturday, in Mbanza Kongo, urged activists to elect capable cadres to lead the Action Committees, with a view to future local elections.
Speaking at the opening of the provincial act launching the review assemblies and renewal of mandates of the party’s Action Committees and communal and municipal conferences, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho asked activists to avoid, as much as possible, the election of people with a damaged reputation and of little prestige within the community.
According to the politician, the member to be elected in the aforementioned review and mandate renewal assemblies must be in full enjoyment of their political rights and know the party’s programs and statutes, as well as have the ability to communicate with the population.
Knowledge of the reality and political and social aspirations of communities, as well as the ability to execute planned programs and political-electoral mobilization were also highlighted by the first secretary as other requirements that aspirants for the position of leader of the Action Committees of the party must possess.
According to the first secretary of the “comrades” party in Zaire, to rescue the MPLA’s mystique in the region, the activists must go down to the grassroots.
“The MPLA will only become stronger if it continues to do its work from the ground up, mobilizing and sensitizing more members to join the party’s ranks”, he highlighted.
Data provided to the press indicates that the MPLA in the province of Zaire controls 103,739 militants, of which 53,799 are men and 49,940 are women, distributed across 1,124 Action Committees.
Participating in the opening act that took place in the auditorium of the Provincial Committee were first and second municipal secretaries, members of the Central Committee, the Provincial Secretariat, those responsible for the Mbanza Kongo Action Committees, among other cadres and party leaders.
