MPLA is working hard to obtain a significant victory in the elections

Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the MPLA Political Bureau for International Relations, Manuel Augusto, presented the political-electoral framework in the country to Cape Verdeans, when he was addressing, this Sunday (10), in the city of Praia, the PAICV militants, gathered at the his XVII Congress, and shared that his party is working hard to win the general elections in a significant way.

“Angola is preparing for the general elections to be held in August this year, and the MPLA is working very intensively to win the election in an expressive way, and thus to be able to continue implementing its Governance Program , focused on the harmonious and sustainable development of the country and on solving the problems of the Angolan people”, reads the tenor of the speech.

Manuel Augusto delivered a message from President João Lourenço to the PAICV counterpart, Rui Semedo. However, he acknowledged the historical importance of relations between the two parties and peoples, whose ties “we must continue to deepen and strengthen”. He said that his presence at the congress represents the expression and a clear sign of the evidence of brotherhood and solidarity that the MPLA has for militants, friends and for the entire Cape Verdean people. “I would like to convey, in this way, our thanks for the honorable invitation made to us to participate in the XVII Congress of the PAICV, a strong and victorious party that fights incessantly for a united, democratic and developed Cape Verde”.

The MPLA is fully aware of the fundamental purposes of the PAICV, which brings together, in this congress, its entire political family, representing thousands of militants and the brother people of Cape Verde, to conclude the process of renewing the mandates of its governing bodies. , as well as approving strategies to strengthen the party, in view of the challenges of the present and the future, highlighted Manuel Augusto.

Thus, I have the honor, with immense satisfaction and joy, to convey to you the greetings of comrade President João Lourenço, of the militants, friends and sympathizers of the MPLA and of all the people of Angola”, he expressed, in a way of fratertinity and solidarity for the ties histories that unite the two parties.

The secretary of the MPLA Political Bureau for International Relations, Manuel Augusto, did not fail to emphasize the unique moment subject to the Covid-19 pandemic, which the world is on the verge of overcoming, according to the latest clinical calculations, despite the scientific class to be divided on this, as a situation that forced governments, international institutions and peoples, in a universal way, to accept restrictive and harsh measures to the harmonious way of life in society. In this regard, according to the speech of the Angolan politician, the Executive acted in a timely manner, adopting and implementing measures to prevent, test and vaccinate the population, which allowed for better management and control of the pandemic. “As you know, the international economic and financial crisis that has also hit Angola since 2014,

In view of the situation, the Angolan Government, within the scope of its National Development Plan 2018-2022, responded with short, medium and long-term political and economic measures, which are improving the so-called “doing business” environment and objective conditions for the diversification of its economy, highlighted the secretary of the MPLA Political Bureau.

Thanks to the measures taken, he said, in the near future, a considerable increase in national production is expected, with a consequent decrease in imports, the creation of more jobs and greater capacity to meet the basic needs of the population.

Manuel Augusto underlined that, in addition to economic measures, President João Lourenço is leading a broad reform program, with emphasis on “the close fight against corruption, nepotism and impunity, as well as the reform of justice and law, as well as as the consolidation of freedom of expression, press, religion and worship”.

Common Fight Path

The MPLA politician explained that the precursors “of the struggle for the independence of our countries, Amílcar Cabral and Agostinho Neto”, in their days, imbued with patriotism, in order to achieve minimum and maximum programs, fought with unity, discipline and solidarity. .

He referred, however, that these are the fundamental principles on which current and future generations should be inspired, in an increasingly challenging context, which requires a lot of resilience, creativity and strategic intelligence.

He appealed to the militants to “join all the synergy in the reaffirmation of leadership, ideals, principles and values”. For the Angolan politician, the challenges of the context do not matter, as the PAICV adapts quickly to the changes of the times, because it has capable staff and, in this way, in his opinion, it has the capacity to overcome the challenges that lie ahead, considering the people as the “key to victory”.

Manuel Augusto made it known, as a form of encouragement to PAICV militants, that the MPLA, when it held its VIII Ordinary Congress in December 2021, expressively reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of João Lourenço, re-electing him to the post. of party president. “Therefore, I appeal to you to be firm in your leadership”, he justified.

“Our Eighth Congress marked the political history of Angola, with gender parity. Today the MPLA has in its bodies and bodies, with emphasis on the Central Committee, the equal presence of women and men, that is, 50 percent are women and 50 are men”, stressed Manuel Augusto, having reinforced that the representation of youth has also increased. In terms of international cooperation, he stressed, the Eighth Ordinary Congress reaffirmed the MPLA’s commitment to strengthening, in particular, the historic relations with the sister parties of Portuguese-speaking African Countries, advocating greater concertation and intervention at the level of the Community of Countries of Portuguese Language (CPLP).

“It is based on this thought that the MPLA considers it important to resume, as soon as possible, the consultation meetings of the secretaries-general of our parties, with a view to strengthening multilateral cooperation”, he argued. For Manuel Augusto, it would be an unforgivable omission, even in this context, not to regret the vicissitudes that one of our sister parties, the PAIGC, is going through and not to condemn the intolerance of which it is a victim. “To the PAIGC, all our solidarity and support”, said the MPLA politician.

Centenary of Agostinho Neto

The secretary of the MPLA Political Bureau for International Relations, Manuel Augusto, also took advantage of the occasion to recall that the 17th of September of this year will be the 100th anniversary of the birth of António Agostinho Neto, Founder of the Angolan Nation, whose political and humanist trajectory was indissolubly linked to the life and history of Cape Verde.

“We want to share with all the Cape Verdean people, represented here by the PAICV, the commemorations of the centenary of this icon of the liberation struggle of African peoples”, said Manuel Augusto, finally underlining that it was particularly honorable for him to reaffirm the availability of the MPLA to continue working on strengthening the friendship, solidarity and cooperation relations that exist between the two parties, countries and peoples.
