Africa-Press – Angola. The inhabitants of the commune of Caculo Cahango, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, this Thursday expressed to the MPLA parliamentary group their concern about the lack of drinking water and the need for rehabilitation of 60 kilometers of the Caquenque/Catete section , which connects the commune with the municipal seat.

Alongside these concerns is the lack of health facilities and schools in the neighborhoods of Caju and Cacua, on the outskirts of Caquenque, the seat of the commune of Cahango.

Another concern in this locality is related to the lack of teachers and nurses.

The only existing health post is supported by just one nurse and the only first-level school has only one teacher who teaches the 84 students enrolled this academic year from 1st to 5th grade.

Caculo Cahango, with an estimated population of 6,988 inhabitants, mostly peasants, has difficulties in selling agricultural production (bananas, maize, cassava, ginger and various fruits).

The chief of Caculo Cahango commune, Inácio Bartolomeu, said that the current situation in the locality is critical, as the water consumed is inappropriate, taken from chimpacas used as a drinking fountain by the animals.

“All these difficulties hinder the development of the locality, and young people without a future, because at the local level there is no vocational training center and school for the 1st and 2nd cycle”, he lamented.

In her turn, MP Ana Cordeiro Alves, who heads the delegation of parliamentarians, on a four-day working visit to Icolo e Bengo said that the delegation is in the municipality to listen to concerns so that the local administration can persuade them to resolve them.

He said that the MPLA is a party committed to resolving citizens’ problems, without discrimination, which is why it is seeing the most remote locations, in the province of Luanda and in the country, in general, looking forward to the improvement of their living conditions. .

Solution for Caculo Cahango in sight

Regarding the concerns presented, the municipal administrator of Icolo e Bengo, Nelson Funete, revealed that the rehabilitation of the 60 kilometers of the Caquenque/Catete section is already integrated in the Luanda Intervention Program (PIL), scheduled for this year.

On the other hand, he made it known that within 15 days, the commune will benefit from an ambulance, a medical laboratory and a clinical analysis technician at the health centre.

Also for this year, the PIL also includes the construction of a health post and a school with seven classrooms on the outskirts of Caquenque, seat of the municipality of Caculo Cahango.

Nelson Funete also stressed that he will send professional kits to the locality, within the framework of the policy of promoting self-employment.

The delegation of deputies from the provincial cycle of Luanda visited the health center of Caquenque, the water treatment center and the school with seven classrooms, built under the Integrated Intervention Program in the municipalities (PIIM).

A similar activity took place in the Cassoneca commune, where they inspected works at the PIIM, a school with seven and 12 classrooms and a health center in Kissembe and Calombola.

The delegation also met with the leadership of the party’s grassroots organizations (OMA and JMPLA).

For Friday, a trip to the communes of Bom Jesus and Bela Vista is scheduled, being the last day of the visit of the deputies to the municipality of Icolo e Bengo.
