MPLA reiterates commitment to social peace

Africa-Press – Angola. The first secretary of the MPLA in Lunda Norte, Deolinda Satula Vilarinho, stated this Saturday that social peace and commitment to the fundamental values and principles of a Democratic State and the Law will continue to be at the center of her party’s attention, as a Government.

The official reiterated this commitment during the mass event that ended the march in support of the leadership of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, stressing that the MPLA will continue to ensure that political pluralism, the separation of powers of sovereign bodies and respect for guarantees of fundamental rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution, are a fact in Angola.

According to the leader, Angola needs a true climate of peace, harmony, social and political stability and healthy coexistence, to allow important decisions to be taken, necessary for the well-being of the populations.

He said that his party also places social justice, unity in diversity, reconciliation between Angolans and transparent and proximity governance at the center of its priorities.

“We vehemently repudiate all forms of political intolerance, disrespect for national symbols and the country’s highest figures, as well as sovereign bodies, because we consider that such acts can jeopardize order and social peace”, he highlighted.

He argued that in order to maintain peace and social stability, it is important to change the political stance and avoid acts that appear contrary to the Constitution of the Republic or that undermine the foundation of the Democratic State and the Rule of Law, “whose main utility is to achieve power over any cost.”

For Deolinda Satula Vilarinho, political competition in a democratic environment presupposes that political parties compete among themselves for control of political power through peaceful elections, without there being room for vandalism or riots.

He called on MPLA activists to reinforce awareness-raising activities, especially among young people, transmitting the values of democracy, patriotism and civility, determining factors for the construction of a truly democratic State.

He urged churches to reinforce their social role, moralizing society and helping the government to combat intolerance, vandalism and instrumentalization of citizens, especially young people, for acts aimed at socio-political instability.

The march, whose objective was to encourage the Angolan Executive to continue with measures aimed at accelerating the national economy and harmonious development, was attended by MPLA activists, members of civil society, non-governmental organizations, among others.
