Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA party reiterated the continuous praise, promotion and defense of peace as one of the patriotic values for the deepening of unity, reconciliation, tolerance and respect among Angolans, regardless of color, religion and the political party to which each belongs.
The fact was reaffirmed by the general secretary of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, this Saturday, at Funda in Cacuaco (Luanda), when he was presiding on behalf of the President of the party, João Lourenço, at the launch of the so-called “April Peace Campaign, of the Love and Forgiveness – More Angola, More Citizenship”.
He acknowledged that there was still a lot of work to be done, but “he stated that we are in a learning process that requires everyone, directly or indirectly affected by the long impact of the armed conflict, to change their mentality, attitude and behavior.
For him, peace and reconciliation only arise when the heart is reconciled, peaceful and quiet.
“Forgiveness is sometimes difficult and requires humility and nobility, but, like the secret of a bird, it is necessary to be able to lift the heavy burden from the soul, the conscious and subconscious and to pave the way for peace and happiness. “, he explained.
He made it known that, with the campaign launched, every year, from April to August, actions will be carried out to enhance and promote peace, forgiveness, love for others, inclusion and brotherhood among brothers.
Likewise, he pointed out, they will be held annually, from October to December, within the framework of the “More Angola, More Citizenship Project”, a set of actions aimed at exalting the date of the proclamation of national independence (11 November), considered as the first and great achievement for Angolans.
The April Peace and Forgiveness initiative highlighted that it has a strong civic slant, aimed at promoting peace, forgiveness and national reconciliation, as inherent patriotic values of responsible citizenship and the promotion of fraternity among Angolans, as well as the respect for national symbols.
The activity was preceded by visits to two grassroots organizations of the Action Committees in the commune of Funda to assess their functionality, as well as to an equal number of community kitchens in the Paraíso (Mulenvos de Baixo) and Maye Maye (Sequele) neighborhoods, where they were between three and four tons of food were donated, as well as the formal delivery of kitchen utensils to three ladies.
Likewise, at the location of the event (Kilunda neighborhood), the MPLA offered three agricultural cooperatives six three-wheeled motorbikes, five sewing machines and agricultural clothing, a gesture from the Citizenship Office and the Party, which was grateful to the beneficiaries.
The event was attended by the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, Manuel Homem, the general secretary of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), Joana Tomás, the secretaries for Information and Propaganda and for Mobilization, respectively, Estêves Hilário and Gonçalves Muandumba, among other guests.
