MPLA repudiates seizures over gasoline rise

Africa-Press – Angola. The second provincial secretary of the MPLA in Benguela, Rosalina Kasisa, repudiated this Wednesday, in the municipality of Catumbela, the disrespect provoked by citizens in some provinces of the country, due to the rise in the price of gasoline.

Rosalina Kasisa spoke about this subject to Press on the sidelines of her formal presentation to the militant mass of her party in that municipality.

According to her, this measure was necessary because it is a necessary change, as a result of the economic movement in the country.

“Some citizens are taking advantage of politics, exciting the youth, especially the less attentive ones, causing riots”, he said.

He recalled that people burned tires and destroyed infrastructures that cost a lot of money to the State coffers and, later, they will complain about the lack of jobs that the State intends to minimize.

“We have to have confidence because the Government is a good person and wants people to have a better standard of living, but things cannot be resolved overnight”, he warned.

Referring to the emergency works of the Provincial Government in the municipalities of the coast, he considered that they are at a good pace, despite having some constraints.

“The province is having works of a quality never seen before”, said the second secretary, giving as an example the asphaltic carpet placed in several arteries, public lighting and other infrastructures, mainly in the cities of Lobito and Benguela.

He informed that the Government has 600 projects in its portfolio, at the level of Benguela province, mainly in the sectors of Health, Education, Energy, Water and infrastructures.

He made a point of remembering the rehabilitation of the Catumbela University Campus, which houses the faculties of medicine and engineering.

As a result, he emphasised, a section of more than a kilometer was paved, from the entrance to the university unit, to facilitate the movement of students, through public transport that circulate during the day and night.

Rosalina Kasisa, elected on the 25th of April last, stated that her first challenge is to revitalize her party’s bases and action committees.

“The building will only be safe if it has a well-formatted and cohesive base”, she stated with conviction.

He has already participated in similar acts in the cities of Lobito, Benguela and in the headquarters of the municipalities of Bocoio and Balombo.
