Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA Provincial Committee in Cuanza-Norte began this Monday, in Ndalatando, a program of public hearings for citizens and local institutions with the aim of resolving the problems that afflict the population.
Called “EME in Public Hearings Movement”, the program is taking place simultaneously in all municipalities in the province, on the initiative of municipal committees and is part of the party’s participatory governance agenda.
At the opening of the event, the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, João Diogo Gaspar, clarified that the objective is to ensure that the population has access to basic essential services, namely housing, drinking water, electricity and decent communication routes.
He pointed out that after listening to the population, a memorandum will be produced for the Executive to find solutions to improve their social conditions.
For the politician, the problems that still exist in the province can be solved with the contribution of the population, who have always been by the party’s side in the country’s important moments, such as the achievement of independence, peace and national reconciliation.
João Diogo Gaspar expressed the MPLA’s intention to work with other political forces and organized citizens who want to collaborate with the institution.
When questioned, some citizens praised the party’s initiative, which guarantees greater proximity to the population.
Marcos da Conceição, one of the citizens received in the audience, considered that programs of this kind facilitate dialogue with public managers.
Among the concerns raised by citizens is the need to build more homes or provide space for the construction of housing, improving basic sanitation and access to bank credit for the business class.
Today, the first day of the program, which ends on Tuesday, more than 50 citizens signed up for an audience with the MPLA’s first secretary.
