PGR in Uíge with around 70 embezzlement cases under investigation

Around 70 criminal cases of corruption and embezzlement, mostly involving public managers from the province of Uíge, are in the preparatory investigation phase at the local Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

The information was provided today, Thursday, by the Public Prosecutor in Uíge, Isaac Eduardo, stating that the processes are progressing at a good pace.

He recognized that there was a very low number of cases sent to the Court, due to the lack of magistrates and procedural instructors.

“We have certain municipalities that only have one instructor and in two others, for this reason, they are unable to quickly deal with the high number of existing processes”, he lamented.

Recently, the local Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) was reinforced with nine more magistrates, going from 11 to 20. With this increase, the person in charge expects, this year, an improvement in the PGR’s activity in the region.

The challenge is that all cases are processed and sent to the court, which is why we are doing everything we can to complete all cases under investigation, in the civil, labor and family areas.
