MPLA wants militants committed to ethics

Africa-Press – Angola. The second secretary of the MPLA in Cunene, Gonçalves Namueia, this Tuesday urged party members to adopt “exemplary” conduct in the fulfillment of their duties.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar on the Code of Party Ethics, he highlighted the need to address the referred topic, aiming at strengthening, updating and increasing the knowledge of militants.

The leader said that it was fundamental to reflect on ethics in relation to the structures’ instructions and directives, as well as to carry out a study on the payment mechanisms for the contribution to grassroots organisations.

“It is fundamental that the cadres and leaders stand out for their good manners, ethics, dedication and commitment to the party, with the action committees (CAP) as a pillar of the party”, he said.

True militants, he continued, have a moral and material duty to put into practice the instruments and mechanisms that guide party activity.

In turn, the training coordinator, Oliveira Pinho, said that the seminar aims to reflect the party’s code of ethics and directive no1 on the process of dues and contributions in the party.

He defined the Code of Ethics as a document that serves as an instruction for the behavior and responsibilities of each militant in their political activity, in the exercise of public function and in relations with society.

He said that the training action, aimed at leaders of the provincial and municipal secretariats, is a unique opportunity to self-regulate, complying with standards of conduct that will guarantee them full freedom to act with respect for others.

Oliveira Pinho said that it was essential to reflect on compliance, bearing in mind that the party’s statutes define the rights and duties of the militant, regarding the punctual payment of the quota.
