Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, announced the start of the construction works of the electrical substation in the municipality of Mucaba for the first quarter of the current year.

Carvalho da Rocha made it official, at the meeting of the Social Consultation Council of the Municipal Administration of Mucaba, during a visit to that municipality to assess the locality’s social and economic situation.

“Very soon, this quarter, the construction works of the substation will begin here in Mucaba”, the governor stressed.

These works are part of the electrification program for 13 of the 23 municipalities of that province, which was launched in Aug 2025.

The governor stated that the site where the electrical substation will be built has already been cleared of mines, with only brush clearing work remaining.

He added that the electricity that will supply the municipality of Mucaba will come from the capital city of Uíge.

José de Carvalho recalled that only 3 of the 23 municipalities in the province of Uíge benefit from electricity from the public grid, namely the provincial capital of Uíge, Negage, and Maquela do Zombo.

He noted that the electrification project, which in this first phase covers 13 municipalities, will be carried out in two phases, with the first phase including the municipalities of Vista Alegre, Dange-Quitexe, Ambuila, Bembe, Songo, Mucaba, Bungo, Nsosso, Damba, Lukunga, and Púri.

The governor further clarified that the Provincial administration is already working with the Ministry of Finance to mobilize resources for the Project 2nd phase.

José Carvalho da Rocha reaffirmed that the Provincial Government of Uíge has defined the electrification of the province as a priority, an investment that it believes will be beneficial to boost the social and economic development of the region.

The meeting of the Consultation and Social Concertation Council of the local Municipal Administration was attended by members of the Provincial Government of Uíge, traditional authorities, religious and political entities, among other guests.
