Africa-Press – Angola. The municipalities of Cuanhama, southern Cunene province, highlighted Tuesday, in Ondjiva, the advantages of the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA), in the creation of new jobs for youth.
The draft Bill for the Amendment of the Political-Administrative Division of Angola aims to improve the quality of life and bring basic social services closer to citizens.
In a statement, the municipality Bernardo Shihepo said that the new administrative political division will boost the region’s development, increase infrastructure and create new jobs.
He recalled that the Angolan territory is vast and that the Government thought it was good to transfer the communes to municipalities, which, for him, will make it possible to interconnect communication routes, better basic services such as health and education.
Abel Armando, on the other hand, said that he welcomes the administrative division, as it will provide a better response to the implementation of projects and programs for local development.
“This vision of the Executive also aims to open doors for the business class to invest in these areas, to captivate young people who come from their localities in search of better living conditions, employment and study”, he said.
Yata Deu stated that the communes, when they become municipalities and with financial autonomy, will require the Government to implement new projects that will absorb the majority of local young people to gain their first job.
Milena de Jesus hopes that with the new political-administrative division, it will facilitate bringing the primary conditions to satisfy the current needs of the population.
Carlito Fernado suggested that the management of the municipalities should have the participation of the community, in order to contribute to the implementation of development projects.
Cunene province, which has six municipalities and 20 communes, with the new administrative political division, will now have 20 municipalities.
The bill, already in possession of the National Assembly, provides, in essence, to increase the number from 18 to 20 provinces, Moxico and Cuando Cubango by two each and increase from 164 to 581 municipalities in the country.
