Africa-Press – Angola. Muriege commune, Muconda municipality (Lunda Sul), on Tuesday won the Unitel mobile network signal, with a view to making it easier for the population to make telephone connections and use the Internet.

Since its creation, as an administrative post for the settlers, the commune of Muriege did not have a telephone network.

The initiative of the Government of Lunda Sul, in partnership with UNITEL, arises in response to several requests submitted by the citizens of that district, at the time of a consultation meeting within the scope of participatory governance.

According to a document, an antenna was set up in the locality that allows customers to make calls and use the Internet, which will facilitate mobile communication between citizens of Muriege and the rest of the world.

For the Government of Lunda Sul, the challenges necessarily involve resolving the pressing problems of the population.

According to the document, the next step will be the mobile connection between the commune of Chiluange and the main municipality (Muconda).

The Muriege commune, which has an estimated population of seven thousand inhabitants, mostly peasants, borders the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), across the Chiluange border.

The municipality of Muconda has 36 thousand and 585 inhabitants distributed in 11 districts, 18 districts, 12 towns and 28 villages. It consists of four communes, namely Muconda, Cassai Sul, Muriege and Chiluange.
