Africa-Press – Angola. The direction of the Provincial Association of Motorized Sports of Namibe (APDMN) scheduled a meeting with the members for this week to discuss the work agenda of the local and national calendar.
Speaking to Rádio Cinco, the association’s president, Lito Maio, assured that his squad is focused on mobilizing partners, together with the local business community, in order to successfully carry out the tests in the disciplines of motor racing, motorcycling, rally and karting, next March.
“We are working on creating conditions to start the 2022 season. I think that in March, we will hold the traditional Namibe Grand Prix, if the pandemic situation does not condition our intention”, he revealed.
However, the official recognizes that the current economic situation that the country is going through has made it difficult to attract potential sponsors, which is why he also hopes to count on the support of the local government, as happened in previous editions.
“There is a great desire on the part of the Provincial Government to support the activity, there is this intention of the authorities so that the province will host the event, which will mark the Sea Festivals of the City of Moçâmedes. We are prepared to start rolling up our sleeves”, guaranteed Lito Maio.
As for the technical state of the city routes, the Marginal do Namibe and Parque Infantil, the leader said that every year there is always one or another point in need of improvement. He regretted the vandalism of the pit area and assured that everything is being done to repair the damage caused.
Likewise, according to the president of APDMN, the pilots and technical teams face difficulties in meeting the costs related to the maintenance of the machines and the acquisition of spare parts, due to the lack of sponsorship.
