According to the president of the National Electoral Commission of Namibia, Elsie Nghikembua, who spoke at the end of the meeting with her Angolan counterpart, her country will hold elections next year, which is why she wants to count on Angola’s support.

According to Elsie Nghikembua, the demonstration of the speed of the technology used in the last Angolan electoral election, held on August 24, 2022, arouses interest on the Namibian side.

“Namibia was impressed by Angola, which held elections recently, by the speed with which the results were released. We need to improve this area and with the experience given to us we have an idea of ​​what to do and how to do it”, she highlighted.

Elsie Nghikembua said that CNE Angola will pass on the experience of holding electoral elections, regarding electoral registration, civic education, vote counting and the announcement of final results, organization, training of electoral agents, electoral registers and registers, among others. components.

According to the person responsible, it is necessary to understand how Angola’s Electoral Law works, because these laws determine how elections should be held, by whom and how.

“We are doing this because we care about the stability of our countries and democratic processes in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region,” he emphasized.

The National Electoral Commission, under article 107 of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, is an independent body that organizes, executes, coordinates and conducts electoral processes.

The CNE, under the terms of the same article, is responsible for organizing all electoral logistics.
