Africa-Press – Angola. The Nigerian State of Nasarawa is interested to cooperate with the Province of Bengo, Angola’s north-west, in the areas of agriculture, mining and industrialization, without ruling out the possibility of other areas, the governor Abdullahi A. Sule.

The official is visiting Angola at the invitation of the Angolan Ambassador accredited to the Republic of Nigeria, Bamuquina Zau.

During the visit, his delegation noted a series of similarities between the two locations. In this regard, they want to sign some agreements, which will still be worked on, however, the next step will be to invite the governor of Bengo, Maria Nelumba, to visit the State of Nasarawa to discuss areas of cooperation.

On the occasion, the governor of Nasarawa, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, stated that Angola has taken a qualitative leap in terms of development, and congratulated the Angolan leadership and its people for the steps taken towards development.

In turn, the provincial governor of Bengo stated that minutes will be signed after the technical meeting held between the two parties.

She added that on Thursday, the technicians will complete the preparation of the document related to the continuity of the work, including the signing of the memorandum of understanding and the twinning agreement, which will outline the areas of cooperation agreed upon between the two parties.

She reinforced that the aim is to strengthen cooperation initiatives, not only in agriculture, but especially in agribusiness and emphasized that Nigerians are one of the largest cassava producers, which yields numerous benefits.

For her, the Bengo government can benefit from this added value, both for the product and for improving family income.

During the meeting, a video was shown on Bengo’s potential, and the intention emerged to include other areas in the twinning agreement, with emphasis on mining exploration and capacity building and staff training, particularly for scholarships and English language teaching.

In Bengo, the Nigerian delegation, together with the provincial governor and members of the government, visited the “Teresa Afonso” satellite city, the “Reverendo Pereira Inglês” General Hospital, and the Novagrolider and Turiagro farms located Caxito, Dande municipality.

On the same day, they also visited the Sino Ord Industrial Park, where they learned about the operations of two factories in the municipality of Barra do Dande.

Currently, the park has 17 companies installed, whose works are underway in the sectors of ceramics, electrolytic aluminum, hygiene products, glass, plastic, paper and packaging, enamel, auto parts and bonded warehouses.

Nasarawa is a state in the Central Region of Nigeria, created on October 1, 1996. Its capital is the city of Lafia.

The main activity is agriculture, producing sesame, soybeans, peanuts, millet, corn, and sweet potatoes.

The state has an estimated population of 2,886,000 inhabitants of various ethnic groups.
