National Assembly commissions approve proposals on Popular Action, Petition

Africa-Press – Angola. “ National Assemblyâ™s specialised commissions Thursday approved in specialty the draft Law on the Right to Popular Action and the draft on the Right to Petition, legislative initiatives by the Executive and the opposition UNITA party, respectively.

The documents, which aim to strengthen the exercise of citizenship, will go to the final global vote at the next plenary meeting of the National Assembly, scheduled for the end of this month.

The proposal for a Popular Action Law, a legislative initiative of the Executive, aims to adapt the procedural rules on administrative litigation to the legal-constitutional reality and to implement the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens enshrined in the Constitution.

According to the rationale report, the document constitutes a step in the materialisation of the Executive’s commitment, assumed under the National Development Plan 2017-2022, namely the deepening of the reform of the public administration.
